Professional Development of the University Professor as an Input to Achieve Educational Quality

Abstract

The current study aims at identifying one of the main approaches to achieving educational quality in higher education institutions. That is the professional development of the university professor, and clarifying the possible effective ways in order to cope with the rapid developments in the knowledge era. Therefore, the following questions were raised: What is the importance of professional development for the university professor and what are its objectives?, What are the main needs of the professional development to the university professor?, What are the methods of professional development of the university professor and its impact on educational quality? The researcher answered these questions, after reviewing the educational literature on the subject, and analyzing the views and ideas of researchers around it, and finally concluded a set of recommendations.
