Abstract

Divorce is a social phenomenon, and it is one of the serious problems that lead to family and social disintegration. The problem of divorce has become a painful reality after its terrible rise in Algerian society, which raised a lot of anxiety because of its negative impact on society. It can be said that the high rates of divorce in Algeria were the result of social, economic, political and cultural factors, and the change in the type of family with the disappearance of the extended family. And the most important reasons that lead to the high divorce rates are the poor choice of the partner, as the failure of marital life is related to how the marital choice is made. Therefore, it was necessary for us as researchers and social specialists to stand on these factors through theoretical and empirical studies to reduce the severity of the phenomenon. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the reality of the phenomenon of divorce by searching for the hidden reasons behind the growth of this phenomenon in Algerian society by highlighting the variables of marital choice and their relationship to divorce
