Abstract

This research highlights the most important and prominent characteristics of an effective Islamic education teacher at the secondary level of the educational system. It aims to define a model for the desired Islamic education teacher, to be as a role model and exemplary figure among their students and colleagues, in addition to other characteristics that affect the teacher's effectiveness. The current study adopted an inductive approach, which aims to study the phenomenon as it exists in reality, focusing on its detailed analysis through research and deduction. The main research question was, "What are the characteristics of an effective Islamic education teacher in secondary schools, educationally, academically, and socially?" The outcomes of this research indicate that an effective Islamic education teacher is one who possesses adequate knowledge and confidence in what he has, and who applies his knowledge of Islam through his behavior and relationships, thus serving as a role model for students in their practical life. Parents trust this teacher and rely on them to guide their children's behavior towards the teachings of Islam. This teacher also embodies values of honesty, trustworthiness, dedication, and other Islamic values that lead to the righteousness of an individual. He should have good relationships with students and others in the school and community within the bounds of religion, possessing personal qualities that make them approachable to students, with a good method of engaging them in Islamic education. Thus, the role model teacher is committed to the religion and applies it in reality, making them an influential teacher
