: Spatial organization in the Sahara has gone through three main periods. In the pre-colonial one, the Sahara was divided between the tribes according to the strength of each tribe and based on the tracks of Saharan trade routes. However, this situation was broken by the entry of the colonizer, who changed the way of life based on nomadism, especially in the areas colonized by Spain. This last has also changed the spatial organization and has adopted a development policy serving his interests. After independence, the control of the space will be the main objective of the territorial organization, which has been constantly changed in order to achieve economic development. In this article, we will talk about the three periods of the organization of the Sahara with invocation of challenges, references and approaches which affected this organization in the light of developments and economic challenges in the region
