Views from the History of the Oriental Rif (case of Driouch Province)

Abstract

This intervention aims at studying the significant transformations witnessed in the province of Driouch, by studying the characteristics of Emirate of lben Salih to the Spanish colonial period, by determining the origins of the population and tracing the key stages of development in the patterns of natural resource exploitation and their impact on the rural landscape. After employing the historical and the descriptive approach, it was found that the studied area had experienced ancient human settlement, and building the first Islamic Emirate in northern Morocco, and subjected to great attention by the Spanish colonial.
