The social bond in Tunisia and the determinants of solidarity in times of crisis

Abstract

This research aims to monitor the potential effects of traditional solidarity in times of crisis from within the coexistence space "Alhouma". It also examines the determinants of the emergence of forms of solidarity between neighboring neighborhoods at the time of protest. The study traces the relationship of the crisis to the emergence of traditional solidarity from the perspective of space anthropology, which studies the relationship of the individual to the space of coexistence, in addition to the concept of social link, specifically the link of voluntary participation. The study concluded that the specificity of Tunisian society and the changes taking place in the family and kinship structures contributed to drawing the boundaries between the individual's involvement in individualism and his transition to traditional structures, so that the time of crisis turns into an event in which the influences of traditional solidarity are summoned, and they recede, leaving room for manifestations of individualism with their disappearance. The importance of the actors’ practices in understanding the transformations occurring in the individual’s relationship with the group and the impact of this on family and kinship structures, as they are movements within local spaces that are mainly linked to defending affiliation or denouncing injustice and inequality
