The role of immigrants in economic and socio-spatial development of Fezwata Oasis(Middle Daraa), studyusing geographic information systems

Abstract

There is no doubt that immigration plays an important role in the economic development of the Middle Daraa Oases in general and Fezwata oasis in particular. This is mainly evident through the financial transfers of migrants, without forgetting their effective contributions to socio-spatial development. We also should not neglect the symbolic capital via the experiences, expertise and behaviours that immigrants have accumulated in the internal regions of Morocco and countries of reception. Within this context, Fazwata Oasis is considered one of the areas marked by migration, which makes the immigrant in these areas an essential actor to achieve the local development. This can only be realized in the context of valuing human capital and enhancing its role in achieving sustainable development
