Population growth and the challenges of community development in new cities in Algeria

Abstract

This study aims at identifying the impact of population growth on the societal challenges faced by new cities in Algerian society, which is linked to the Millennium Development Goals. The study found a number of results, the most important of which are: the contribution of population growth to guiding the goals of the creation of new cities to solve the problem of housing and population redistribution in an attempt to alleviate urban poverty and create new jobs. Population growth contributed to the integration of services and their completion before transition to ensure their effectiveness. In addition, population growth has pushed towards community partnership, taking into account the right of self-determination and decision making by the people of these communities, and ultimately contributing to population growth towards migration in search of more opportunities in life, given the factor to attract economic and return to differences in wage levels
