The reality of student social and psychological counseling work in the Sultanate of Oman schools from school principals’ point of view

The study sought to describe the reality of the work of social and psychological student counseling in schools in the Sultanate of Oman from the viewpoint of school principals as well as identifying the challenges that prevent social workers and psychologists from performing their job duties as intended by using the descriptive approach. The study concluded that the reality of the work has many challenges that hinder the work of student counseling. The most notable challenges were lack of cooperation by teachers and parents with the social worker and psychologist, the number of specialists is not appropriate for the student density in the school, and the lack of specialists with competencies and job skills. The study presented a set of procedural proposals to develop the reality of social and psychological counseling work in schools in the Sultanate of Oman
