Civil Society in Algeria: a case study of "civil society activities"

Abstract

"civil society activities” is a coalition consisting of 76 associations and 20 unions, which held between 18 May and 12 October 2019 several national meetings and seminars, which resulted in ten statements that were published in the press and websites. By analyzing this data, the article highlights how this coalition contributed to presenting a political project A political project that brings together different political visions and crystallizes the demands of the popular movement that Algeria has witnessed since the beginning of 2019, in order to achieve a peaceful democratic transition. Although the "civil society activities" were dissolved and its members stopped meeting after the presidential elections of December 13, 2019, but it remains an important experience that shows the transformations of civil society in Algeria
