Abstract

Water scarcity in the” Tafilalet” oases that are located in the South East of Morocco constitutes a real constraint and what increases its severity is the resource squandering and the difficulty of its renewal especially at the” Gorf” oasis that is the subject of this study. This leads to emergence of serious environmental challenges primarily the decline of irrigated lands and the sand crawling in the oasis. This directly affects the local residents’ incomes and their size which decreases considering the area repellent to the population. The fate of the”Gorf” oasis and the” Tafilalet” oases generally depends on involving the population in the development programs, the coordination between the actors in the water sector and the effectiveness of the measures taken to preserve this natural, cultural and civilizational heritage and also to ensure its sustainability
