Effectiveness of a proposed training program for managers of literacy and elderlyeducation departments at Republic of Yemen

The goal of the research is to build a proposed training program in terms of the needs of managers’ literacy and elderly education departments in the Republic of Yemen, and to measure the effectiveness of the training program on them. To achieve the goal of the research, the researcher used the descriptive approach and the experimental method for each experimental group. Data were collected from (52) managers in the departments of the Literacy and elderly in Education Office (Capital Secretariat, Sana'a - and Amran Governorate). And measure the effectiveness of the proposed training program on (19) managers of the departments of the Literacy and elderly Education Office in the Capital Secretariat - Sana'a - through the application of pre and post exams on them. The researcher adopted in analyzing the data obtained by the statistical package (SPSS), and the effect size by the Cohen index. The research resulted in a list of training needs that included (64) items distributed into nine training areas from the sample point of view, and the result concluded that there are no statistically significant differences between the research sample’s estimate of the degree of training needs according to the gender variable in seven areas, while there are differences for females in the two fields: (Educational change management, meeting management and report writing) while there are no differences in the degree of needs depending on the (qualification) variable in eight areas, except for the field (modern management strategies) in which there are differences in favor for educators. A proposed training program was built in nine training units, and the result of the proposed training program implementation concluded that there are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the research sample in the pre-application and their average scores in the post-application of the achievement test in favor for the post-application, which indicates that the proposed training program has a magnitude of impact. Large and effective in developing the performance of managers of departments of the research sample in the administrative aspect
