Narcotics, psychotropic substances, and their impact on traffic safety

This study aims to know the effect of drug and psychotropic substance abuse on traffic safety, and the study problem is summarized in the main question, “What is the effect of drugs and psychotropic substances on traffic safety?” The study is divided into three sections: The first topic: the definition of narcotics and psychotropic substances and their types, the second topic: the causes of drug abuse and the spread of drugs and psychotropic substances among young people, the third topic: the effect of drugs and psychotropic substances Mentality on traffic safety. The study concluded with a set of results and recommendations, the most important of which are the following: Traffic accidents in Palestine are still on the rise and this is confirmed by the statistics issued by the Palestinian Traffic Department, and there are many reasons that lead to road accidents in Palestinian cities, including drug and psychotropic abuse, and there are no specialized scientific studies or accurate statistics on the impact of drug and psychotropic substance abuse on Traffic safety in Palestine, and the use of drugs and psychotropic substances affects the individual’s behavior and awareness, and consequently on driving cars, causing more road accidents. Among the most important recommendations: work to increase the penalty for reckless drivers who use drugs and psychotropic substances while driving and who cause traffic accidents. Spreading more traffic awareness among citizens and adhering to traffic and traffic rules and ethics, especially among young people, and that traffic safety is a fundamental requirement in protecting our societies, stopping the waste of human and economic energies, taking appropriate decisions and practical solutions to this problem, and ensuring road safety
