The level of mental health among Yemeni, Syrian and Sudanese refugee children in Egypt

The current study aimed to identify the level of mental health among Yemeni, Syrian, and Sudanese refugee children in Egypt in light of the variables (gender, age, country, number of years of residence in Egypt). The study relied on the descriptive analytical approach, and the study sample consisted of (251) male and female children from Yemeni, Syrian, and Sudanese refugee children in Egypt were selected using the available method, and the Mental Health Inventory-18 (MHI-18) scale was used. The results of the study showed that the level of mental health on all dimensions of the scale was average. The results also indicated that there were statistically significant differences between males and females in the level of anxiety in favor of females, and that there were no statistically significant differences in the rest of the dimensions of the scale (depression, behavioral control, positive affect). There are no statistically significant differences in the level of mental health attributable to the age variable, in addition to the absence of statistically significant differences in the level of mental health attributable to the variables of nationality and length of residence on the dimensions of anxiety, behavior control, and positive affect, and the presence of statistically significant differences on the depression dimension in favor of Yemeni children compared to Syrian children, and in favor of the length of residence.
