Abstract

The aim of the current research is to measure population concentration and to analyze the urban dominance of the state of Djelfa through the results of the 2008 Census of Population and housing. It also aims to determine the future possibilities of urban concentration in the state cities in light of the result of the measurement of urban population.Concentrations. A range of methods and indicators have been used to measure urban dominance and population concentration, such as index, urban dominance ratio, Gini index, Lorenz curve, population concentration index, URBINDEX, Browning and Gibbs. The study found that the capitals of the state departments are characterized by a high degree of population concentration compared to the municipalities and the municipalities. In the future, these cities are likely to attract large numbers of suburban residents, leading to a rise in their dominance over other regions
