Abstract

The oases of the south of Morocco, located between the High Atlas Mountains in the north and the desert in the south, witnessed an ancient human settlement which has left an urban and cultural heritage that is witnessed by the "Kasbahs"and "Qsors". However, they soon witnessed a rapid urbanization and have been influenced by globalization, where modern housing (cement and iron) wreaked important field imbalances which have led to the extinction of the peculiarities of the oases. This study seeks to show the manifestations of the changes in the pattern of oasis housing in the southeast of Morocco, specifically the "Ktaoua oasis" while highlighting some of the field imbalances of this type of housing within the oasis. This is based on a geographical methodology, relying on observation, analysis, and conclusion, and a historical methodology through an understanding of the housing transformations in the oasis, using multiple techniques: bibliographic work, field work and satellite images
