Territorial intelligence of the city: Conceptions, movements, performances and initiatives

Our research was established with the aim of assessing the selected concepts of smart cities that have become a need of modern society. While the term 'smart city' is becoming more and more widespread, there is still confusion about what a smart city is, especially as several similar terms are often used interchangeably. This article aims to clarify the meaning of the word 'smart' in the context of cities through a case study approach. In the context of cities by means of a case study approach based on a thorough review of the relevant literature as well as official documents of international institutions. Our own experiences and communication with elected officials and executives responsible for the development of the Moroccan city have resulted in definitions, describing both the concepts and each of the layers of the system, which are presented, it also identifies the main dimensions and elements characterizing a smart city. The different metrics of urban intelligence are reviewed to show the need for a shared definition of what constitutes a smart city, what its characteristics are, and how it behaves in comparison to traditional cities
