Methods of coping with stressful life events and their relation to mental health in adolescents A field study on a sample of Algerian adolescents

The study aimed at identifying the relationship between the methods of coping with stressful life events and psychological health among Algerian youth and the extent to which coping methods are affected by gender, place of residence, social status, age, and level of education. The study sample consisted of (300) young individuals (third and secondary students) from different regions (secondary and university institutions from the states of Adrar, Masila, Saida). The researcher used two measures: one to measure the methods of coping with life events, Psychological Youth. The results of the study revealed that Algerian youth use multiple methods in coping with stressful life events, which are arranged by use: positive interaction methods, behavior behaviors, and negative interaction methods. A positive correlation between the positive and the psychosocial responses was 0.89, and there was a weak inverse correlation between the negative behavioral and behavioral behaviors with mental health. And there were statistically significant differences at significance level 0.05 in the coping methods of stressful life events between males and females and for males. There were significant differences in the average scores of the sample members due to the variable of social status at the significance level of 0.05 in the following methods: positive interaction and coping methods in general and the differences were in favor of married youth, and at 0.05 level in my style: negative interaction and behavioral behavior and differences were in favor of single youth. And the existence of significant differences in the mean scores of the sample after the positive interaction and after the negative interaction and the total dimensions at the level of 0.05 for the benefit of the population of the city. While there were no statistically significant differences in the mean scores of the sample members after behavioral behavior at level 0.05. And the existence of significant differences in the mean scores of the sample after the positive interaction and after the negative interaction and in the total dimensions at the level of 0.05 attributed to the level of study. While there were no statistically significant differences in the mean scores of the sample members after behavioral behavior at level 0.05. And there were significant differences in the mean scores of the sample in all dimensions at level 0.05 due to age.
