Abstract

This study addressed the Merowe Dam Lake to feed the Nubian Aquifer in Northern State - Sudan.Where the study aimed to show the geographical characteristics of the study area, and to identify the feed rates to a Nubian aquifer basin before and after the establishment of Merowe Dam in general, and in the areas affected by the apparent meaning of watery overflow in particular. The study also aimed to identify the other factors of irrigation methods and the flooding of the Nile, and the its impact in the feed rates of the Nubian Aquifer. The study used several methodologies, are: the historical method, quantitative method, the regional method, ecosystem method, the analytical method. They have helped in the analysis and interpretation of data obtained from primary sources and secondary sources. The most important findings of the study is that the reason for the appearance of overflow of water in the study area, due to increased feed rates of the Nubian Aquifer, from Merowe Dam Lake. And that the increase in underground water has led to the expansion of agricultural projects in the upper barricades in the northern state. Also, the increase contributed to the establishment of large-scale projects as the two projects (Al Rajhi and Amtar), that depend on underground water for irrigation. Among the most important recommendations of the study are: Make use of the presence of this water to plan projects in the upper gears. And conducting studies for the study area to develop future plans that accommodate the changes that occurred due to the spread of the water rash phenomenon
