Challenges for school social workers in Qatar

The school social service in Qatar faces numerous challenges due to several professional, familial, cultural and organizational factors. Such factors lead to a kind of vocational fatigue of the social workers and their ability to fully accomplish their roles. The present study aims exploring the proposed challenges and possible mechanisms encountering those challenges or at least reduce. Several previous studies suggested that training, planning, task designation and increasing the number of social workers to suit the increasing number of students. The data was collected electronically by means of online questionnaire. The data represented about (22.3%) of the school social works in Qatar. The data was analyzed using relevant statistical techniques to answer the research questions related to research objectives focusing on the professional, material, familial, organizational and cultural challenges. The results indicated that, these challenges. The researcher concluded that continuous training and development of skills in general practice in schools, increasing contact with the students’ families to follow their children continuously through meetings and events, family communications and home visits)
