Abstract

This research aims to develop an intervention program focused on the development of social and emotional skills of preschoolers. Based on a theoretical framework that postulates that social and emotional skills are a set of behaviors that allow an individual to interact positively with others and to adapt to various situations. This intervention program is based on the development of children's social and emotional skills by working on interactive stories in addition to play activities, as well as on the orientation of the educational interventions of the educator on a daily basis and engaging parents to improve children's learning at home. In this research, we will focus on skills related to emotions management, that are divided into three main dimensions: the skill of recognition, expression and control of emotions. Methodologically, we used the quasi-experimental approach where we applied a post and pretest on a sample of 139 child to measure the targeted skills before and after the intervention program by using the scale of measuring social and emotional skills for children from 4 to 5 years old (SEAM. Jane Squires & al. 2014). The study showed that the children who benefited from this program were able to significantly develop the skills related to managing emotions, as their average acquisition rate progressed from 3 (average acquisition) to about 4 (good acquisition), with a statistically significant development recorded in all the studied dimensions
