Abstract

Today, the Moroccan city, as a geographical, economic and social entity, has begun to exert various levels of direct or indirect impact on the environment, and there is no doubt that environmental degradation is the result of the rapid changes taking place in urban areas, particularly due to the high rate of rural-urban migration and the spread of manifestations of urban marginalisation and the emergence of an unorganised industrial movement. In this context, it is impossible to ignore the relationship between urban planning instruments and the protection and preservation of the environment, given the important role they play in regulating the use of space, including its natural and environmental resources, including green spaces, which occupy a special place in urban areas. Marrakech is one of the well-known Moroccan cities that attach particular importance to these areas, and we will try in this article to highlight the importance and functions of green spaces and how they are distributed throughout the city, and to study the ways in which these spaces are managed and the main actors involved in their management, to conclude this article with a look at the main constraints on the management of green spaces in Marrakech.
