This text restores the most important sociological visions that have addressed the transformations of the social bond since the industrial revolution, while highlighting their conceptual and problematic depth, as well as the general context in which questions relating to this subject have been raised, particularly in the wake of the digital transition. It provides an overview of prior field research investigating the impact of digital information and communication technologies on social ties and relationships, and outlines the nature of the sociological contributions that are currently needed to provide a more detailed understanding of this topic
