Community work programme: Ambitious projects with an integrating approach, but without the commitment of the partners. ( Case of the local communities of Ain Aouda and Ain Atiq in the suburb of the capital city, Rabat.) Rabat is creeping across its southern suburb, especially the local communities of Ain Aouda and Ain Atiq due to the scarcity of the territorial space. The target suburb has been transformed from an agricultural area to an urban-like center where non-agricultural activities have flourished. These two emerging centers, however, have witnessed many defects because of the non-controlled urbanizing process. As a result, many territorial space related problems have appeared, especially breaking the law of urbanization. Consequently, the integrated local development has been hindered and delayed. My research is dealing with the factors that influence the territorial extention of Rabat city, and highlighting the role played by the area of Ain Atiq and Ain Aouda to absorb the demographic explosion in Rabat and Skhirat Temara. I am also attempting to show the territorial problems that have appeared in the aftermath of this radical transformation.
