Abstract

Through a field study we conducted on some residential neighborhoods in the city of Meknes, we aim to understand and explain the extent to which the age variable as a demographic characteristic contributes to some deviant and delinquent behaviors. Highlighting the size and type of these behaviors in view of the life periods that a person passes through. In pursuit of this goal, we relied on a qualitative approach, by conducting a number of semi-directed interviews, with an intentional sample of neighborhood residents; Ain Chebek, Borj Moulay Omar, and Marjan Assoukna, as a model for residential neighborhoods, the subject of the state's policy to eliminate slum housing. The study concluded that the youth group is the age group most associated with the phenomenon of deviance and delinquency, especially violent practices, drug abuse, theft and other behaviors. On the other hand, it is not possible to deny the existence of this phenomenon also among the juveniles as well as the elderly, but it differs in terms of quantity and type, according to each age stage
