Abstract

The creation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) is based on the African Union initiative “Agenda 2063: the Africa we want”. This zone will constitute, if successful, the first major step taken in a process of continental economic integration with the aim of bringing prosperity to the African nations. All African countries have signed the accession agreement, until the end of July 2020, with the exception of Eritrea, and of which 39 countries have already ratified it. The success of this initiative, which began in January 2021, was undoubtedly a gigantic breakthrough in the determination of a prosperous and above all sovereign Africa. The dream is ambitious and the challenges in the structural and conjectural policies are enormous
