The role of social protection systems in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): An analytical study of the reality of social protection systems in the Sultanate of Oman

The current study aimed to track the reality of social protection systems in the Sultanate of Oman and their role in providing social protection in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study is considered one of the descriptive studies that describes the social protection systems in order to achieve SDGs, and to what extent these programs are compatible with the goals and the commitment to their implementation. The study also attempts to clarify the theoretical framework for sustainable development: concept, objectives and dimensions, as well as to shed light on the social protection systems in the Sultanate since the beginning of its inception. In addition, it investigates the changes and developments that accompanied these programs and their role in achieving social protection. Moreover, the study attempts to come up with recommendations and proposals that would enhance the role of social protection systems in achieving SDGs in a way that is compatible with the situations in the Sultanate of Oman. In terms of the research methodology, this study relies on the descriptive analytical approach in analysing the role of social protection systems in achieving security and social protection in light of social and economic changes and the resulting phenomena that affect the achievement of the ultimate goal of social protection systems, which is to protect the weak and fragile groups in the Omani society
